The scenario
A logistics site with six vehicle gates, continuous HGV movement and a long outdoor perimeter, where safety obligations required knowing who and what was on site at any moment.
Approach
- ANPR at every gate, with plates registered against hauliers and delivery bookings
- Access Control issuing contractor credentials conditional on current induction status
- Video analytics perimeter rules tuned over a two-week commissioning window
- Device Health monitoring the dispersed camera estate
Design decisions worth noting
Contractor credentials were made conditional on induction validity so that an expired induction automatically removed access rather than relying on a manual process. Perimeter rules used dwell conditions and schedules to keep the alarm rate at a level the gatehouse could actually handle.
